What this site shows helps people understand and estimate their own electricity and water costs. It is not a bill, a quote, professional advice or an official statement.

Electricity calculations are derived from the electricity tariff published by DES at des.gov.bn/electricity-tariff.

Water calculations use the domestic rate printed in the PWD Water Facts leaflet: B$0.11 for every cubic metre of the first 54.54 m³. That leaflet prints no other rate, so the rate above 54.54 m³ and the commercial water categories were carried over from an earlier calculator and have not been confirmed against it. Please check them with PWD.

How accurate is it?

We strive to make the calculations as accurate as possible based on the sources above, and each result shows the tariff version it used. They can still be out of date or contain mistakes, and they leave out meter rental, arrears and any other charges. The EV calculator is in beta: it rests on assumptions about how you drive, how often you charge and charging losses, so its results may vary.

Official enquiries

For any official question about a tariff, a bill, a charge or a figure, contact the Department of Electrical Services (DES) for electricity, or the Public Works Department (PWD), whose Department of Water Services looks after the water supply, for water. Their answer and your official bill are what count, not a result from this site.

Limitation of liability

This site and its API are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of accuracy, completeness, timeliness or fitness for a particular purpose.

To the fullest extent the law allows, the owner of this site, and anyone who helps run it, accept no liability for any direct or indirect, incidental, consequential, special or punitive loss or damage. That includes loss of money, savings, profit, revenue, business, data or goodwill, however it arises, from:

• using, or being unable to use, this site or its API;
• relying on a result, including one that turns out to be wrong, incomplete or out of date;
• a difference between a result and your official bill;
• a change to a tariff that the site has not yet picked up;
• an interruption, error or outage; or
• any decision made on the strength of a result, such as budgeting, pricing, signing a contract, an investment or buying an electric vehicle.

This applies to individuals and to businesses alike. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

The DES and PWD pages are not under our control. They can change at any time, and this site may lag behind them. We may update this disclaimer too; the date below shows when it last changed.
